THE ORIGINAL Virtuoso pipe organ control system was the first fully integrated pipe organ control system to be introduced in the history of pipe organ control technology. That original system spawned our current line of systems. Virtuoso control systems are engineered from the ground up to take advantage of modern digital technology. As a result, Virtuosos are small and flexible, highly reliable, and extraordinarily easy to install, maintain and operate.
There are now three Virtuoso configurations: the original Virtuoso, Virtuoso Lite for smaller instruments, and Virtuoso Plus for particularly large or complex projects.
Compact. The Virtuoso takes advantage of the latest accomplishments in electronics miniaturization to ensure a minimal footprint within the organ console itself and in the organ chamber(s).
Reliable. Components are attached using modern automated surface mount and wave solder technology that is more secure and reliable than older “through hole” mounting or hand soldering. All-fiber-optic communications ensure the very highest reliability and complete shielding from lightning or other electromagnetic interference that can affect copper cabling. Every key contact is energized every time it is engaged, ensuring that contacts stay as pristine and reliable as the day they were installed. Organ control software and configuration settings are stored in highly reliable flash memory.
Easy to Install. The Virtuoso is much easier to install than traditional systems. All Virtuoso internal connections, including the fiber optic connections, are plug and play, so you can throw your soldering iron away. Virtuoso allows you to choose the external connection methodology that you prefer: Insulation Displacement Connectors, Krone connectors or wire-wrap and solder. The Distribution Panel design reduces wiring complexity. Virtuoso separates the wiring from the electronic components (drivers, etc.), thereby simplifying and accelerating both the initial installation and future maintenance.
Easy to Configure. Since all organ configuration within a Virtuoso is table-driven, no programming is required to configure an organ controlled by a Virtuoso. Configuration is simply a matter of completing a supplied spreadsheet. Installing a new or updated configuration is accomplished via a simple file transfer from a personal computer to a removable memory device. The Virtuoso configuration checker performs more than 400 operational tests to ensure a trouble-free installation.
Easy to Maintain. Because of the reliability engineered into Virtuosos, problems will be fewer and farther between than with older systems. Surface mount technology, plug and play modular components, modern software design ... all these mean fewer problems for you to worry about over the years.
Easy to Operate. The Virtuoso organ control system makes any organ as easy to play as it can be. A high-speed, high-capacity CPU and speed-of-light fiber optics all deliver a more responsive, full-featured instrument. The Virtuoso system supports an unlimited number of “users,” each with a virtually unlimited number of memory levels. For each organist the system provides four tutti, four crescendos, and an integrated piston sequencer. When formulating a crescendo registration, users can copy and paste from any other crescendo, and of course the organist may reveal any crescendo or tutti.
